Boriana and I want to extend our deepest gratitude to all of those who danced in and supported our first year with Golden Star. This undertaking would not have been possible without you. We are thrilled to announce that the 2016 Golden Star Dancesport Championship is proving to be bigger and better than we could have imagined. As former dance champions, coaches, and judges we look at Golden Star as our humble offering to the dance community and as a way to give back in thanks for what we have reaped from this prestigious industry. Hosting a global array of competitors and strategically located minutes from New York City, The Westin-Jersey City makes you feel as if you are in the heart of the Big Apple. Participants can enjoy breathtaking, scenic views of New York and Manhattan is only a hop, skip and three minute path train ride away. Enjoy a thrill-seekers paradise and indulge on all this intoxicating mecca has to offer.

Whether you are a professional, amateur or pro-am we are thrilled that you have chosen to compete in Golden Star Therefore, we seek to provide you with an optimal atmosphere. Fully equipped with energizing music, an inviting ambiance, top cash prizes and valuable keepsake trophies, topped off with sizzling dancers; Golden Star has it all.
We will continue to showcase our “Golden Star VIP Solo Artists”. These are our special Pro/Am solo dancers whose performances will be highlighted in our evening sessions along with a mini biography advertised in our program noting their dance achievements. Along with this, we are adding with much anticipation the Fordney Foundation Junior Scholarships, Best of the Best Dance-offs for closed bronze, silver and gold divisions and there will also be an Open Senior (65+) Scholarship in all four styles. With sensational outcomes from our Junior Team Match, we are excited to add more teams and continue with this successful event.
The competition will conclude with “A Night to Remember”, our theme this year is “Glitz and Glamour”. So dazzle yourself in rhinestones and dance the night away. Proceeds collected will be donated to charitable organizations. Last year we donated close to $10,000 to the dance icon Beata who is battling cancer. Sunday festivities will include world-class show performances, dinner and four hours of party dancing for all spectators who want to take part in the fun!
We do hope you start 2016 off on the right foot at Golden Star. With over $55,000 in prize money, thorough planning, attention to detail, and an inviting atmosphere, Golden Star is sure to be an event that you will attend year after year. Our passion and love for dance has inspired us to create a competition which honors those who have made ballroom dancing what it is today. We hope to see you on January 29th!
