Dear Friends,
Boriana and I are thrilled to announce our undertaking of the Northeastern Open Dancesport Invitational, a competition with a long standing history for the past twenty years. We have worked tirelessly to make improvements to an already prestigious event. This year, under its new name, Golden Star Dancesport Championships, we are looking to accommodate a more global array of performers. Hosted at a new location, The Westin- Jersey City, participants will feel like they are in the heart of the Big Apple as they enjoy breathtaking, scenic views of New York. Golden Star is easily accessible to downtown Manhattan (a three minute PATH train ride to be exact), a thrill seeker’s paradise where you can indulge in all of what this intoxicating mecca has to offer.
In addition to its new name and location, participants should look forward to numerous benefits. First, we want to show our great appreciation for our Pro/Am couples. This being said, we are adding A, B and C Scholarships in both Open and Closed categories in all divisions! A unique feature and something that we are most excited about is our presentation of the “Golden Star VIP Pro/Am Solo Artists”. These are our special Pro/Am solo dancers whose performances will be highlighted in our evening sessions along with a mini-biography advertised in our program highlighting their dance achievements. Next, we would like to entice all Open Professionals by offering DOUBLE the prize money in all styles. Also, for Friday night we are adding Rising Star professional events. And on both Friday and Saturday nights we will host a Grand Rising Star and Grand Open Professional Championship. Winners of each Professional event will be scored with visual marking to spice up the evening.
Setting Golden Star apart from the rest, we will host a Hong Kong style dinner dance gala celebrating the Chinese New Year. Proceeds collected will be donated to charitable organizations. Sunday festivities will include world-class show performances and four hours of party dancing for all spectators who want to take part in the fun!
We do hope you will join us in marking our first year with Golden Star. With over $50,000 in prize money, thorough planning, attention to detail, and an inviting atmosphere, Golden Star is sure to be an event that you will attend year after year. Our passion and love for dance has inspired us to create a competition which honors those who have made ballroom dancing what it is today. We hope to see you on January 29th!
